Product websitebzActionsUnifiedSearch-FM is a FileMaker 2024 demo file that pushes semantic search further by introducing an action layer—allowing users not only to find relevant data but also to trigger scripts, open layouts, or generate charts based on the meaning of their natural language query.
Rather than asking users to choose between searching for records or initiating a workflow, this demo uses AI-powered semantic search to interpret intent and offer both. Queries like “set up AI model” or “chart by state” return not just matching records but also suggested actions. Clicking “Execute this Action” runs the appropriate script, opening the door to interactive, user-driven experiences.
Each script dynamically interprets the semantic intent of the query. For example, a single charting script can produce different charts depending on whether the user asks to “chart by state” or “graph by sport”—adjusting logic and layout based on the underlying meaning of the input.
This demo builds on the concept of unified search introduced in bzUnifiedSearch-FM, expanding it into a more interactive model that bridges search and action. Highlights:
• Unified Search + Action Layer: Semantic search results include both relevant records and actionable workflows.
• Context-Aware Execution: Trigger scripts that adapt to user intent—opening layouts, creating charts, or launching other workflows.
• Meaning-Based Action Matching: Identifies and runs the most relevant action by understanding the intent behind the user's search.
• Developer-Friendly Configuration: Easily customize or extend available actions to support new use cases.
What's New
This demo introduces the ability to perform actions directly from semantic search results in FileMaker. As a companion to the bzUnifiedSearch-FM demo, this file showcases how users can go beyond finding data—triggering contextual actions like navigating to layouts or generating dynamic charts based on the meaning of their search term.
